Have you noticed the sea change?
There’s a shift in the air. It has a lot to do with Minnesota’s Gov. Walz’s introduction to the national stage of the presidential campaign.
He projects a mindset of optimism, zero tolerance for bullshit and places importance on the nonpartisan idea of doing the “right thing” to earn the public’s trust.
That prospect seems so refreshing and distant from the exhausting recent past. It is a commentary on how we nearly lost the essence of what’s “normal” and longed for its return, like wandering around in the dark looking for the light switch.
A new line of inquiry has led us to question and publicly challenge what’s “weird” and “normal.”
And now it seems normal to seriously consider someone non-male and non-white to lead this imperfect yet mighty and influential nation into the future. Now that would be a most welcome sea change.
